Companies increasingly use biometric technology to make employees’, customers’, and their IT teams’ lives easier. However, this kind of technology also exposes employers to potential biometric data breaches and litigation if they do not have the proper protections.

Mario Paez, national cyber risk practice leader at Marsh McLennan Agency, spoke with Leader’s Edge about how using biometrics data such as facial recognition, fingerprints, and iris scanning can lead to litigation claims. He shared his advice for employers and the role of cybersecurity insurance coverage.

“I think it is just a matter of time that biometric privacy laws become more of the norm or are incorporated into larger comprehensive consumer privacy laws,” said Mario.
