Florida continues to face many insurance challenges. The latest extreme weather event, Hurricane Idalia, is creating more problems for the state. Pete Walther, president and CEO of Marsh McLennan Agency's Private Client Services, spoke with The Center Square about Idalia's impact on the insurance marketplace. Pete also talks about Idalia's effect on consumers and carriers and what lawmakers can do to help.
“Hurricane Idalia adds further evidence and pressure on legislators to implement changes that will enable a more resilient insurance marketplace for consumers and insurers," Pete said. "Traditional regulatory models, which were designed to protect consumers, are now failing consumers at scale and at an accelerating rate.”
